Things to do while glamping near Seahouses
Preston Tower
Full of fascinating displays depicting the bloodshed and fear inflicted by the Borders Reivers and with rooms furnished as they were in the 14th Century, you’ll feel as though you have stepped into Northumberland's grim and bloody history. Built in the 1300s, this tower stood strong during the great battles between Scotland and England but played victim to the Rievers atrocities until peace finally came to the land. For a more peaceful experience, head out to the gardens and enjoy one of the many woodland walks. Keen-eyed wildlife spotters will love the red squirrels that scamper through the trees.
Budle Bay
The Northumberland Coastline makes up part of the region’s Area of Outstanding Beauty and Budle Bay has beauty in abundance. Classified as a nature reserve, you’ll spot Graylag geese, gulls and wildfowl as they hunt for something tasty in the mudflats. There’s a beautiful viewpoint on the high ground beyond Budle Point, accessed via a footpath that edges around the golf club. Not to be missed.
Crazy golf at The Bunker (Seahouses)
With 18 holes dedicated to local landmarks and attractions such as Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne, this is a fun and informative way to spend some time with family and friends. It’s tricky enough to challenge your whole team. There’s also a soft play if the kids still need to burn off energy!
Seahouses Beach
Enjoy the big open skies of the Northumberland coastline as you lie back in the sand dunes that hug the golden sand of Seahouses beach. With views of the Farne Isles on a clear day, it’s a beautiful spot to while away an afternoon. A small harbour was built in the 1800s and you can hop on a tourist boat and go puffin and seal spotting, and of course, it’s not far from one or two tasty chip shops. You’ll find it impossible to resist the smell of fish and chips floating on the seaside breeze.
Fun and games at Wigwam Holidays Springhill Farm
Sometimes you don’t want to venture too far to have fun and relax with your friends and family. Wigwam Holidays Springhill Farm has a great kids play park where the younger ones can let off steam while you enjoy some quiet time outside of your luxury glamping pod.
There’s a big grassy playing field on site which is absolutely perfect for a big game of rounders or football - if you can tear yourself away from chilling out with a good book that is!
