Facilities

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak some of our facilities have been temporarily removed however guests will be informed of these prior to their arrival.

Each Running Water Deluxe Wigwam® Cabin sleeps up to 4 people (plus an infant in a cot-bed) and offers the following facilities to ensure your maximum comfort:

  • Integrated private shower room with toilet, wash hand basin, walk-in shower, towel rail radiator. Towels can be hired for an additional charge.

  • Kitchenette with sink, fridge, electric hob, kettle, toaster and microwave.

  • Double bed and pull-out double bed settee with a throw. Bed linen can be hired for an additional charge.

  • Centrally located electric wall heater.

  • Dining table and four chairs.

  • TV with DVD player.

  • Lockable French doors leading onto outdoor decking area with panoramic views over open countryside, picnic table & Kadai firebowl/BBQ.

  • Well equipped kitchen including mugs, dinner plates, side plates, cereal bowls, cutlery, wine glasses, plastic jug and tumblers (for four guests), pans, kitchen utensils, tea towel, handwash, washing up liquid, washing up bowl, scourer, J-cloth, chopping board, tin opener, sweeping brush, dustpan and brush.

  • Fairy lights and bunting.

  • Welcome pack containing lots of useful information about the local area.

  • Four Wigwams (the ones with hot tubs) have USB chargers.

  • Bike storage facilities

  • One designated parking space adjacent to the cabin

We have an enclosed play area with a basket swing, two swings (one suitable for toddlers), a slide and a picnic table. Currently closed due to Covid-19 Restrictions.

There is also a large grassed play area for guests to play football, cricket, rounders, frisbee or just enjoy the fresh country air and take in the glorious views. There are some outdoor games by the honesty shop for guests to borrow if they wish.

We do not provide any bedding or towels unless you hire them from us.  You will need to bring duvets and covers, pillows and cases and double sized flat or fitted sheets for the mattresses.

Access Statement for Wigwam® Holidays Sedgewell Barn

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

Introduction

Wigwam® Holidays Sedgewell Barn is located on a working farm, close to the picturesque village of Ainderby Steeple with its historic church and traditional pub. The beautiful North Yorkshire countryside surrounds our glamping cabins making for an idyllic holiday destination under vast, open skies.

Our six luxury en-suite heated Wigwam® Cabins (each one sleeps up to 4 people) are situated in vast open countryside. Four of our cabins have private outdoor electric hot tubs.

Pre-Arrival

For full details and maps of how to reach us please see the directions section of our website. Alternatively, you can plan your journey by car or public transport using a journey planning website; simply enter your postcode and ours, which is DL7 9JY to get directions.

The nearest railway station is Northallerton which is 3.3 miles (8 mins drive) away. We recommend A2B Taxis which are available at the station. Please ring 07734 570639. If you require an accessible taxi this can be booked in advance, see contact information for details.

The nearest bus stop is on the village green in Ainderby Steeple which is approximately 0.5 miles (about a 15 minute walk) Bus timetable can be accessed here.

The first part of the road from Sedgewell Barn to Ainderby Steeple does not have a pavement and has some tight corners. This part of the road does not have street lighting until the village and the main A684 is reached.

Northallerton has a choice of four supermarkets: Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda. There is also a Co-op and Nisa located nearer to the site on Boroughbridge Road, Romanby.

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking

Keys are left in the door of each Wigwam® cabin for guests to check themselves in upon their arrival. 

Each Wigwam® Cabin has its own designated car parking space.

Gravel pathways lead to each cabin. These are not lit at night and guests are asked to bring their own torches or headlamps. The minimum width of each path is 130cm.

Maunby Wigwam is the only cabin which has three steps along its pathway so if you would rather not be allocated this cabin please let us know prior to booking. The rise of each step is 16cm and the step length is 94cm.

Entrance into the Cabin 

There are two decking steps, both with a rise of 13.5cm and a tread depth of 60cm; then a step into the cabin which has a rise of 20cm. 

The cabin front door is 105cm wide.

Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways

The cabins are all on one, open living area with no steps inside. 

There is a clear passageway inside the cabin measuring 120cm in width (minimum).

They are well lit with dimmer switches which can be adjusted to suit the level of brightness required.

There is laminate flooring throughout. 

Sitting Room/Lounge

There is natural daylight in the wigwam with several lights with dimmer switches.

The sofa has several cushions (none feather cushions available upon request) to alter support level to suit. 

There is laminate flooring throughout.

There is a 24” flat screen digital television with remote control, subtitles, and a DVD player.

Dining Room

There is a moveable dining room table with four chairs.

There is natural daylight with several lights with dimmer switches.

There is laminate flooring throughout.

 

Kitchen

The kitchen is situated on the same level with step free, level access. 

The hob is 101cm above the floor.

Worktop and sink are 101cm above the floor. 

Mini fridge/freezer available, highest shelf in fridge 39cm.

Dining Table provided – 64cm from floor to lowest and 4 upright chairs with no arms. None feather cushions are available and can be used for the sofa.

Glasses and crockery are situated on lower cupboards for easy access

Large cutlery and utensils and cordless kettle rotating 360 degrees.

The kitchen is evenly lit and brightness can be adjusted via a dimmer switch.

Bedrooms and Sleeping Areas

The double bed situated at back of wigwam with step free access. 

A double sofa bed is available for use by a personal assistant/carer or friend/family member

There is a window at the back of the bed providing natural lighting and several lights in dimmer switches

There is laminate flooring surrounding the bed.

Non feather bedding available (upon request), digital television with remote control, built in DVD and subtitles can be viewed from the double bed.

Bathrooms, Shower Rooms and Toilets 

There is an en-suite bathroom in every cabin. This room measures 145x150cm.

There is a 10cm step into shower. The shower is a quadrant cubicle measuring 75x75cm. The height of the adjustable shower head ranges between 144cm and 200cm.

The toilet is 40cm high.

The wash hand basin is 86cm high.

There are screw taps on the washbasin.

The bathroom is well lit with an overhead light.

There is laminate flooring in the bathroom and a bathmat provided.  

Surrounding Area 

The cabins are situated in beautiful, open countryside which is well maintained and accessible.

Each cabin has its own picnic bench and Kadai firebowl/BBQ.

There is a picnic bench situated in the children’s play area for guests to use and enjoy the surrounding views.

Outdoor Hot Tubs

Four of our six cabins have private outdoor electric hot tubs. The temperature is thermostatically controlled to within 0.2 of a degree. Chlorine is used to keep the water in the hot tub clean and safe. The chlorine and pH levels are checked by site staff twice daily and more chemical added if required.

Access height of the hot tub – 75cm

Internal step height – 30cm

Water depth – 60cm

If required, a step can be provided to enable access into the tub. Please let us know about this upon booking.

Additional Information

All dogs, including assistance dogs are very welcome.

All areas in the cabin have good colour contrast between the floor, doors and walls. Generally, doors and doorframes are wooden and walls are light in colour.

The mobile phone reception is usually good with 4G network coverage with many of the mobile phone providers. If in doubt please check online with your own network provider.

The nearest Hospital with an Urgent Treatment Centre unit is the Friarage Hospital (3 miles) Northallerton, DL6 1JG Tel: 01609 779911. 

The nearest hospital with an A&E department is Darlington Memorial Hospital (15 miles) DL3 6HX Tel: 01325 380100. 

The nearest doctor’s surgery is Mayford House (3 miles away) Romanby, DL7 8BN Tel: 01609 772105. There is also a Well Pharmacy next door.
