When to come

The wave pool runs year round and is not weather dependent in the way an outdoor break is, which makes Lost Shore an unusually reliable choice in autumn and winter when a lot of Scottish glamping comes down to luck with the forecast. Spring and summer suit families making the most of the long evenings and the country park trails, October half term is popular with families wanting the surf lessons, and the colder months tend to suit couples booking the hot tub lodge and the sauna, coming off the water and staying in for the evening.

Which one should you book?

Just the two of you

The Pod sleeps two and is the simplest option, with a floating super king size bed, an ensuite shower room, air conditioning and a touchscreen and app controlled environment for the lighting, ventilation and climate. There is a mini fridge, a coffee machine, a hairdryer, an iron and a safe, and you can watch the surfers from your doorstep.

Families and small groups

The Kurv and the Wave both sleep up to six. The Kurv has a king size bed and bunk beds in the main bedroom plus a sofa bed in the lounge, a self catering kitchen and an ensuite bathroom. The Wave has a super king size master, a bunk room, a sofa bed, a projector screen in the living area, a full kitchen with oven, hob, fridge and coffee machine, underfloor heating, a dedicated workspace and a dining table.

Larger groups and longer stays

The Hilltop Lodges sit above the resort looking out across the Cove and the grounds below, and come in three bedroom versions sleeping six and four bedroom versions sleeping eight. Each has a fully fitted kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge freezer, an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge with a flatscreen TV, bedrooms made up with linen and towels, and a family bathroom in addition to the ensuites.

With a hot tub

One lodge type, the three bedroom Hilltop Lodge with hot tub, has a private hot tub on the deck, which is the one to book if you want to come off the water and sit outside in the evening. It sleeps six across one double with ensuite and two twin rooms.

Dog friendly lodges

Dogs are welcome in the three bedroom and four bedroom Hilltop Lodges at fifteen pounds per stay, with one dog per lodge. The remaining accommodation types are dog free, so if you are bringing a dog you will want to book one of the two lodge types rather than a Pod, Kurv or Wave. The country park trails around the resort give you somewhere proper to walk them.

Built around getting wet

Every lodge has an outdoor shower and a dedicated wet changing and surf storage area, so wetsuits, boards and soaked kit stay outside and nothing wet comes into the lodge. It is a small thing that makes a real difference if you are in and out of the water across a weekend, and it is the reason the lodges still feel dry and warm on day three.

Accessibility

The Kurv is designed to be wheelchair friendly throughout, with sliding doors and wide corridors, and it sleeps up to six. The Hilltop Lodges sit in a quieter spot a ten to fifteen minute walk uphill from the car park, so they suit guests who are happy on their feet; on arrival and departure days the team runs luggage up and down by buggy so you are not carrying bags.
