Things to do while glamping in Mevagissey
The Eden Project
No holiday in Cornwall is complete without spending a day at The Eden Project. Whether you’re on a couples glamping break, or you’re taking the whole family glamping - there’s something for everybody here. Activities and thrills - such as the amazing Skywire, exhibitions and events take place throughout the year, so you can be sure of finding something fun and interesting whatever the season.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan
So beautiful and within a ten-minute drive of Bodrugan, this fabulous restoration has lovely walks through the jungle, the inspirational vegetable garden and the more formal Italian garden and Flora’s Green. Not to be missed it also has a child’s play area and plenty of opportunity for refreshments. Lobbs Farm Shop is in the grounds and has a great butchery and all you need for al fresco meals.
The fishing village of Mevagissey
Make sure you spend some time in this beautiful village - just a short drive from your glamping site. There are lots of cafes and shops here to wander around in (and stock up on all your glamping essentials) and a pretty harbour too. This is where you'll get the ferry out to Fowey.
The Shack at Portmellon
You'll find this tasty cafe in Portmellon, which is just down the hill from Wigwam Holidays Bodrugan. This cafe may be small but it packs in a big menu of tasty treats and delicious meals for hungry kayakers and explorers of Portmellon Cove and the wider area. Everything is homemade and locally sourced. You can also hire kayaks for sea adventures.
Caerhayes Castle and Gardens
Set in 140 acres of lush woodland gardens, there are a wide range of walks to enjoy - whatever your ability or time scales. Guided walks take you to unseen corners and you'll marvel at the secrets and history around the gardens and in the castle walls. The castle provides a splendid and romantic backdrop to Porthluney Cove where there is a beach café, parking and a lovely beach to while away the rest of the day.
Fowey Estuary
From Wigwam Holidays Bodrugan to the Fowey Estuary it takes just over an hour to drive - past Charlestown and St. Austell, but we much rather a journey of a different kind. If you’re looking for unusual things to do while glamping in Cornwall, then jump on the Mevagissey to Fowey passenger ferry, to get a taste of life on the ocean waves. The trip out is thrilling - with lots of opportunities for seal and dolphin spotting. There have also been sightings of basking sharks and whale sharks, so don’t forget your camera!
Charlestown
An atmospheric and historic area - popular as a film location for the likes of Poldark and Mansfield Park. There are often tall ships in the picturesque harbour and for more maritime stories and exhibits, visit the Shipwreck, Rescue and Heritage Centre.
Kidzworld Adventure Centre
If you’re glamping in Mevagissey with kids, you really need to check out this place. It really is a kids world. With drop slides, an ice rink, mini golf, trampolines, dodgems and a sky wire - there really is something for all the kids to enjoy - whether you’re a young kid, or young at heart. Perfect for a rainy day, or a day of indulging the kids while you sit back with a coffee and watch the fun unfold.
Find inspiration at Tate - St. Ives
Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, discover how a tiny fishing village became a hub of art and creativity. Set on Porthmeor Beach, St Ives is just over an hour away along the A390 and A30 from Wigwam Holidays Bodrugan. St. Ives is well worth a day trip no matter where you go glamping in Cornwall, but whatever you do build a trip to the Tate into your day.
Heated indoor swimming pool on site
Some days you won’t want to stray far from the luxury of your glamping Wigwam Cabin. After all, holidays are for relaxing - and one of the great joys of glamping the beauty and calm of natural surroundings. So, you’ll be glad to hear that there is a heated swimming pool on this Wigwam Site, so you can enjoy stretching out in the water and relaxing the muscles, before sitting down to enjoy some tasty BBQ food around your own firepit. Nb: There is a small additional charge for the pool and a Covid safe booking system in place in line with government guidelines
