There’s lots to do when you’re glamping in Yorkshire, from beautiful nature to charming historic towns. Tucked away from your busy everyday life in beautifully rural East Yorkshire, yet just 11 miles outside the City of York, Wigwam® Holidays Ball Hall Farm is the perfect option for your glamping holiday if you want to get away from it all for a few days but still have ample opportunities for day trips to nearby towns and attractions.

Visit the City of York

York is an excellent destination for a day trip for anyone who is interested in history, great food or unique shopping opportunities - so basically everyone! The York Minster is a must-see, towering over the rest of the city in all its medieval glory. This world-class cathedral is a sight to behold with its awe-inspiring stained glass windows and stone carvings. The Jorvik Viking Centre is also well worth a visit, explaining York’s fascinating history with Vikings through ancient artefacts found on the site.

For a spot of retail therapy, York offers an excellent selection of high street stores, designer brands and independent shops, so there’s something for every taste and budget. The Coppergate shopping centre and Coney Street are the places to go for high street shops like Topshop and Zara, while Gillygate and Petergate are scattered with independent shops and boutiques for some more unexpected finds.

After a day of seeing the sites and hitting the shops, fuel up in one of York’s fabulous eateries before driving back to your glamping site. Los Moros is an ever-popular restaurant offering reasonably priced dishes hailing from the Middle East and Morocco. For a romantic ambience, head to Sotano Charcuterie & Bar for contemporary tapas dishes by candlelight. The Rattle Owl offers up what some call the best Sunday roast in York as well as a delicious seasonal menu carefully crafted using local ingredients.
