Before confirming your booking at Na Bothain, Sandy Bay Croft Wigwams, please take the time to read the information below. It includes vital information regarding cancellation policies and the amenities and services available at the site, which will assist you with planning your holiday.

Where possible, please book at least 24 hours before your intended stay to avoid disappointment.

Cancellation/No-Show Policy:

In the event of cancellations or no-shows we do not offer any (either full or partial) refund.  However, if we can rebook the cabin for the dates you had chosen, we will offer a refund minus a 12% fee if you booked online.  Please be aware the Hebrides are subject to adverse weather conditions, which may result in ferry cancellations. We cannot be held accountable for such events. Please ensure you have adequate travel  insurance prior to booking with us.

Holiday Cancellation Insurance:

We strongly advise you to take out the appropriate levels of cancellation insurance so you can have peace of mind that your costs will be covered, should you need to cancel your stay with us for any reason.  We recommend that guests have an appropriate level of  insurance in place for their needs.

Fire Safety:

Smoking is not permitted in the Wigwam, cabins or in the laundry/ storage hut. Candles, incense burning, fireworks, and flammable liquids/gases are prohibited within the accommodation or site.  Fires and BBQs are only permitted in the Fire-pit area. Please do not light disposable BBQs on decking or picnic benches. Please be aware that any sign of cigarette damage within the cabin will result in a £50 cleaning charge. 

Damages Policy: 

Please note you are liable for the cost of any damage to the buildings and the contents.

Dogs:

Well behaved dogs are welcome and must be booked in advance at a cost of £5 per dog per night (Max 2 medium sized dogs per cabin). Dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times. Owners are expected to clean up after their dogs and use the bin provided on site. Please remember that you will be staying on a working croft, with sheep and cattle grazing in close proximity to the Wigwam, Cabins, we therefore ask that you follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code Dogs– Know The Code  Any damage caused by your dog will be chargeable. Please do not leave your dog unattended. Failure to comply with these rules will result in you being asked to leave the site and no refunds will be given. Please contact us directly for further details of our policies relating to dogs/pets.

Croft Safety:

By booking one of our Wigwam Cabins, you confirm that you take sole and exclusive responsibility for your own safety and wellbeing. For safety purposes, please do not permit children to play on or around farm machinery, dyke walls or gates.  Please also ensure children are not permitted to roam unattended on the croft at any time. Parents are responsible for their children, and as such, children must be supervised at all times.

There is access to all croft fields containing livestock, however, we would ask that any dogs/ pets are kept on a leash. Please ensure children are not permitted to cause sheep to run during the lambing season. Please do not climb fences, walls or gates and ensure gates are securely closed behind you. Please ensure the Scottish Outdoor Access Code is always adhered to.

Risks for Pregnant Women during Lambing Season:

Some infections can be passed from sheep and other animals to humans. If a pregnant woman becomes infected, it could harm her and her unborn baby's health. Although the risks are low, pregnant women should still avoid close contact with sheep during the lambing season.  If you’re pregnant or think you might be pregnant, avoid close contact with sheep during the lambing   season, which runs from April to May.

Parking:

A parking space is available for one vehicle beside each Wigwam.

Arrival/Departure Procedures:

Check in is from 4pm onwards. Please try not to arrive before 4pm so that we can complete cleaning protocols. If you wish to view our Risk Assessment, please email us directly.  Check out is at 9:30am. To ensure your check-in and check-out is contactless, a key will be left on the table inside the open wigwam.  On departure, please also leave the key on the table.

Complaints Procedure:

We take all comments from guests seriously. In the unlikely event that you wish to make a complaint, you can contact us by telephone or email and we will respond. We will try to resolve any issues as soon as possible.

Code of Conduct:

We expect our guests to look after and respect the Wigwam,  site and croft.  As Scarista is a very quiet, rural village, we would ask that there is no excessive noise at any time and to keep noise levels to a minimum after 10pm. Parents are responsible for their children, and as such, children must be supervised at all times.

The Health and Safety Guarantee:

The deep clean ensures we clean all Wigwam, Cabins thoroughly.  However we do ask that guests leave the Wigwam and your outdoor area tidy and please place all rubbish in outdoor bins provided. Please do not leave any food in the fridge. All dishes should be washed, dried and put away in the kitchen area. Weather permitting- Please leave windows open on departure.

COVID 19 specific Terms & Conditions.

Government Guidelines:  We ask all guests to adhere to Government Guidelines.

What happens if I or a member of my party displays COVID symptoms during my/ our stay at Sandy Bay Croft Wigwams?

Holiday Cancellation Insurance: As previously stated, we strongly advise you take out Holiday Cancellation insurance. 

Liability: 

The owners of Sandy Bay Croft Wigwams: David & Fiona Mackenzie shall accept no liability to guests booking with us for any loss, damage or injury howsoever caused to anyone in your party or their personal property. By booking one of our cabins, you confirm that you take sole and exclusive responsibility for your own safety and wellbeing within the cabins and on our site.
