The Maglia Rosso story started in 2013 when father and son, Barry and Matt Denny decided to buy a derelict village pub and convert it into a cycle center and country cafe.
Barry was about to retire from the specialist printing company of which he was MD, and Matt was operating a business buying, renovating and selling properties. Both were keen, competitive cyclists with a passion for the sport, which was booming due to GB successes.
A great deal of work was needed to repair and convert the property for its new use but this was completed in time to open in the spring of 2014.
The business has established a good reputation amongst cyclists and the general public and, in 2018, they decided to expand the operation by the introduction of glamping cabins on the meadow adjacent to the building.
They quickly found the Wigwam Cabins to be the best on the market, with an excellent franchise deal available. They signed up and then Matt set about preparing the site for the arrival of six cabins, putting in the necessary infrastructure, namely access road, electricity, mains water and sewerage. This proved to be a protracted process but, eventually, the site was ready to start trading in October 2019.
The site now offers a cosy place to stay and somewhere to eat, as well as cycle hire and sales. Set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, you can enjoy long walks, cycle rides and visits to local villages and towns and many other places of interest.
