Things to do on your glamping holiday near Wrexham

Relax around our site

It won’t take long for you to settle into the Clwydian Wigwams® way of life. You’ll want to relax and enjoy the tranquility of this farm before heading out to explore the wider area. Marvel at the stunning scenery, take gentle walks and spot wildlife all around. And of course, the stars put on a show at night - as you sit around your own campfire.

Rug Chapel

Built in the 1600s and tucked away in lush green grounds, this unassuming chapel hides a wealth of interest and intrigue inside. The arch-Royalist Colonel William Salesbury created a place of worship rich in colour and detail as a protest against the rigid, puritanical worship of the era. Open the door to high colour and intricate wood carvings and rose motifs. Climb the stairs to the gallery to take in the beauty, and contemplate in the tranquillity.

Clocaenog Forest

Stroll around the lake, or wander off the beaten path through forest landscapes and open moorland in this haven of natural beauty. With over seven forest trails and many more forest roads, this is the perfect place to bring the family for a nature walk or cycle - with a picnic break around the lake of course. The animal puzzle trail is great for little kids and big kids alike and you can download a treasure trail from the Natural Resources / Wales website.

Ruthin Gaol

Learn about life in the Victorian prison system in this purpose-built Pentonville style prison. Pick through the cells and ignore the goosebumps as you walk through the dark and condemned cells. The audio tour is well worth taking part in - with plenty of stories to keep you interested. You might even come face to face with the Welsh Houdini or William Hughes - the prison’s last ever hanged-man.
