Talkin Tarn Country Park (7.5 miles)

Talkin Tarn Country Park is home to a magnificent 65-acre lake set amid 120 acres of farmland and woodland. The park is an ideal spot for water-based activities such as sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing, and fishing.

Take a gentle stroll through the mature woodlands or hire a mountain bike and explore more of the beautiful countryside. There is also a 5k parkrun every Saturday where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.

Walby Farm Park (11.5 miles)

Come and greet the resident reindeer, alpacas, pigs, goats, donkeys and lots more at this 30 acre farm park just outside Carlisle. Equipped with an indoor and outdoor play area to keep the little ones entertained whatever the weather.

Carlisle Castle and Tullie House Museum (11 miles)

Carlisle Castle has been standing proud for nine centuries - come and explore the medieval castle rooms, discover a turbulent history with the exhibition, and walk some of the castle walls.

Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery is a classical Grade One listed Jacobean building that houses exciting collections of fine art, human history and natural sciences. It also hosts a wide range of exhibitions and events. For the kids - fire a Roman weapon, climb the life-sized section of Hadrian’s Wall or visit the badgers’ settlement!
