All Round Buildings has been manufacturing wooden wigwams since 1992, and has extensive experience in the siting and management of these innovative and highly popular cabins. Due to the success of established sites it has become apparent that there is considerable potential for extensive development of the “wigwam” product. Wigwam Holidays launched in June 2000, is in the process of establishing a national network of wigwam holiday sites, providing consistent value for money accommodation. A typical site consists of several heated wooden wigwams with central toilet/shower facilities and cookhouse. This can either take the form of a new building or a more cost effective option is to utilize an existing farm building.
All sites registered with Wigwam Holidays are advertised and promoted through our literature, website etc., and have the use of the “wigwam”, trade mark for marketing purposes. Membership is charged on an annual basis and is based on the number of cabins.
There are currently eighteen wigwam sites around Scotland from the Isle of Skye to Dumfries and Galloway, and three sites south of the border, including the Isle of Man and Northumberland. Existing sites are expanding every year to cope with increasing demands for this unique form of holiday accommodation. All sites were fully booked at weekends throughout the 2004/05 season and are reporting highly satisfactory projected occupancy rates for 2006.
The success of the individual sites can be attributed to the cabins/facilities, management and marketing. Since its launch in 2000 Wigwam holidays.com has proved a highly efficient tool in attracting customers to all registered sites. Marketing support includes inclusion on the website (each site is given its own personalized page), use of the “wigwam” brand, (a registered Trade Mark), provision of sales literature, national newspaper advertising throughout the season, and signage. We are developing a range of merchandise which will be available to all members for retail purposes. In the year 2005/2006 wigwamholidays.com received in excess of 1,000,000 hits from both U.K and overseas Internet users.
Wigwam holidays recognises that in order to maintain and build on its current success it is essential that we are able to meet the ever-increasing demand for the product. To fulfill these criteria we must develop a network of sites providing a sufficient geographical spread to allow easy touring from site to site. We are continually seeking ways to upgrade the Wigwamholiday experience and are fully aware of the diverse nature of our customers. All sites are rural and many are on agricultural holdings we are keen to develop an educational aspect to the holiday and are currently in discussions with external groups to offer training courses, e.g. mountain skills, pony trekking, agricultural/horticultural activities, art, music etc.
