‘Good little spot with an excellent pub round the corner serving a wide selection of beers and good food. Service hut is excellent with a couple of warm seating rooms, good showers and a bath. Owners welcoming and pleasant happy to help and will make breakfast in the morning. The pods looked well appointed (I camped) and is within a very short walk of Hadrians wall, perfect for your last or first night.’
‘Very peaceful, small campsite with 2 wigwams (camping cabins) and a self catering unit. Wigwam was very well equipped with tv, fridge, microwave, toaster kettle, washing up bowl, cleaning equipment, crockery and cutlery. Only 2 other campers and a family in next door cabin and unit. Services area was very clean. 2 x shower with toilet (one with bath). Felt like a proper bathroom rather than campsite shower facilities. Plus lots of info in seating area near reception and good info pack in wigwam. We met Martin the site owner at the pub (5 min walk away) and came over to introduce himself - very friendly. Would definitely stay again’
We were walking the wall from East to West this week and this was our final stop - fantastically priced with great, clean facilities, lovely breakfast and The Drovers Rest nearby which serves amazing food. The owners were away, but Peter helped us out and made sure we knew where everything was and was incredibly helpful. Had a lovely evening chatting with other campers in the hut over teas and coffees which were provided. Would definitely recommend this as a spot to stay if you want to get out of Carlisle and make the walk to Bowness on Solway a bit shorter on the final day!
Lovely wee peaceful site with 2 wigwams and room for tents. We stayed in a wigwam which was great value at £45 a night (2 adults and 3 kids). Wigwams contain a fridge, kettle, microwave and TV. There are 2 shower rooms and a toilet (bit tired looking but clean) in the main lodge plus a sitting room and tea/coffee making facilities. Really handy for Carlisle (10 mins in car) or Hadrian's wall. Martin and Julie gave us a warm welcome and some good ideas for things to see and do. 4/5
Fantastic. Brilliant. Friendly helpful. Genuine people we were supposed to camp for one night booked in at 6 pm we arrived 8pm Martin was waiting at the gate. We changed to a pod no problem Martin popped Heating and got us water Julie his wife rang the local pub that was due to stop serving food to wait for us. Not in a rush to graph our money and Julie is making us breakfast if we could give you a higher score we would well done and this site's a must 5/5’
