As summer 2017 arrives, it’s time to take stock of our beautiful British countryside and attend an agricultural show or two!
Some have already taken place, yet the Royal Welsh Show is one of the busiest, taking place from Monday 24th to Thursday 27th July inclusive.
A mind-boggling array of events from sheep shearing demos to cookery, from cattle judging to falconry, from a tug-of-war to glamping will be in place at this fabulous location at Llanelwedd near Builth Wells, Powys.
If you are using your car to get to and from the show, use this postcode in your SatNav: LD2 3SY.
Depending on the direction you come from, the main roads are:
From the South West: A483
From the South East: A470
From the North West: A483
From the East: A481
Parking in the satellite car parks is free – just remember where you’ve left your vehicle! There’s also a park and ride service from 7.30am to 9.30pm daily for the duration of the show.
And while the weather can be unpredictable, the location is known to be a suntrap, so make sure you protect yourself with sun lotion, sunglasses and a hat.
Highlights of this year’s show include the RAF HAWKS Display Team; Black Mountains Falconry; Tristar Carriage Driving; a vintage machinery display and of course lots of trade stands to grab your attention.
The show is usually covered by S4C, the Welsh-language TV channel. And with a 12 hour programme each day including livestock, countryside sports and more, there’s bound to be something for everyone. Gates open at 8am each day.
Ticket prices start at £5 per child, going up to £26 per adult.
Once you’ve seen the displays and toured the stock sheds, it’s time to have a stroll around the stands. Wigwam® Holidays, one of the UK’s leading glamping accommodation providers, has a prime position in the outdoor Forestry Section, at stand number FOR740. As there’ll be a top-of-the-range Running Water Deluxe cabin ‘on show’, everyone will get the chance to glimpse glamping at its best!
And if like what you see, Wales is home to five Wigwam® Holidays sites across this beautiful nation
