Wigwams 10 years on the go at the Royal Highland Show

Thousands of people from far and wide flocked to Ingliston near Edinburgh this summer to visit the Royal Highland Show. Many see this annual event as the highlight of the Scottish Summer and it certainly was for Wigwam Holidays. This year, the Show marked the tenth anniversary for the company, which was launched at this very event back in June 2010. With four days of glorious sunshine and the busiest Royal Highland Show on record, it was bound to be another successful year.

June 2010 - Go Potty for Pot-a-Doodle Do Wigwams

For many happy campers, June is the month when summer really kicks off and after the bad winter this year, many will be looking to make the most of their summer holidays. If it’s a comfortable camping experience you’re after then why not try a Wigwam Holiday? This June saw Wigwam Holidays set off down to the Northumbrian coast where they delivered eight brand new wigwams® to Pot-a-Doodle do Wigwam Village.

May 2010 - Wigwams Spring to life in the Highlands

April saw Wigwam Holidays take a journey up to the Highlands of Scotland to arrive at Acharn Farm, former home to the historic James of the Glen who makes a cameo appearance in Robert Lois Stevenson’s ‘Kidnapped’. Acharn farm was restored 12 years ago by owner Corinne Alward who describes it as “the perfect quiet little place”.

April 2010 - Wigwams like being by the seaside at Springhill Farm

This month saw Wigwam Holidays set up camp on the stunning Northumberland coast near Seahouses. With a panoramic backdrop of Bamburgh Castle, the Farne Islands and the Cheviot Hills the Gregory family of Springhill Farm Accommodation welcomed five wigwams onto their 500-acre working organic farm.

February 2010 - Wigwams arrive in Cornwall

Last week saw Wigwam Holidays head to the deep South West. Ruthern Valley to be precise. Home of the Eden project, Rick Stein, the lost gardens of Heligan and not least the Cornish pasty; Cornwall now plays host to two brand new five berth wigwams®.

November 2009 - Wigwams Arrive at Glentress

Wigwams Holidays has just come to the Scottish Borders, teaming up with Glen Tress Forest Lodges to give you Glentress Wigwams Set in Beautiful Peeblesshire, Glentress is the home to the biggest mountain bike centre in the UK. part of the forestry commissions internationally recognised 7stanes mountain bike network.

September 2009 - Firewalk at Strathfillian

Last year it was a wedding that made the news at Strathfillan but this year things got a whole lot hotter for the loyal wigwam guests. The 19th and 20th of September saw Strathfillan hosted the “Awakening Senses Fayre”

June 2009 - Royal Highland Wigwam Show! 24-27 June 2009

June wouldn’t be June without the Royal Highland Show and this year we were there with an all new wigwam design, not to mention showing off our fancy new merchandise range to the show going public.

December 2008 - Edinburgh Hogmanay at Mortonhall wigwams

Mortnhall wigwams situated in the perfect rural location on the south side of Edinburgh, complete with country walks, highland cattle, garden centre and stables bar is your perfect wigwam destination to enjoy the best that Scotland's capital has to offer this Hogmanay.

September 2008 - Wedding at Strathfillan

On the 6 September 2008 Simon and Claire Slocombe of London and Glasgow, crossed border divides and tied the proverbial knot, but when it came to the venue they shunned the usual suspects and exchanged vows amongst sheep, mountains and wigwams.

August 2008 - Wigwams arrive in Shetland.

For the first time since Eric the red travelled from Norway to Greenland and laid claim to Newfoundland, the cultural divide between Native America and Shetland has finally been bridged.

June 2008 - The Royal Highland Show

With the great British weather comes the great British show season! As always wigwam holidays took up our annual berth at the Royal Highland Show, Edinburgh and this year had rather a posh "Sheiling" cabin on display.
