10 things to do in Cornwall with Wigwam Holidays

The Eden Project

Home to the largest rainforest in captivity with loads of thrilling activities such as climbing walls, freefall jumps and the UK’s longest zip wire. Meander along the treetop walkways, and immerse yourself in the biodome’s microclimates, housing weird and wonderful plants and flowers. There are loads of family events and live music and concerts in the summer months.  It's less than ten miles from your glamping pod at Wigwam Holidays Mevagissey, although the Eden Project is a must-visit no matter where you're glamping in Cornwall.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

A chance discovery of a door in a wall revealed the overrun gardens of the Tremayne family estate. Restored by the team behind the Eden Project, this is a truly wonderful secret garden. Steeped in horticulture history, a secret grotto and dotted with natural art, this is a must see.

Tintagel Castle

A stunning castle said to be the birthplace of legendary King Arthur. There are lovely walks and trails in the grounds, leading out the Tintagel Island and Merlin’s Cave, where the wizard is said to have worked his magic. It's only five miles away if you're glamping in Camelford at Wigwam Holidays Great Tregath

Minack Theatre

Thrilling drama, comedy, opera and musical theatre unfold in this world famous open theatre set high on the cliff tops overlooking the Atlantic ocean. A truly unique theatre experience.

Ann’s pasties @ The Lizard / Helston Pasty Shop

You can’t visit Cornwall without sampling a famous Cornish pasty and locals fairly unanimous that if you’re having a pasty - it has to be Ann’s pasties! Award-winning, fresh and locally sourced - you can’t get tastier, and you can even buy online when you get home from your glamping holiday so you can always remember the true taste of Cornwall.

Charlestown Shipwreck & Heritage Centre

Fans of the TV series Poldark will be delighted with this wonderful museum and town - but there’s much for those who are not interested in the dark and brooding one too. With exhibits gathered from over 150 shipwrecks, this is a fascinating museum, with hundreds of stories to capture your imagination. There’s a lovely restaurant and a ticket will also give you access to the newly open-to-the-public historic Charlestown Port.

Festival Fun

Cornwall knows how to throw a party - for local celebrations that date from pagan days such as Helston’s Flora Day and Padstow’s Obby Oss Day. For film and literature buffs there is the annual Cornwall Film Festival and the North Cornwall Book Festival - and foodies are rewarded at the Portlethen Food Festival & the Scilly Isles Food & Drink Festival

Drive the most scenic road in the South West - St. Ives to Land’s End

Travel through lands rich with mermaid myths, stop for Cornish cream tea at the perfect tea rooms and picnic among the dunes at some of England’s most beautiful hidden coves. If you're glamping near Portreath at Wigwam Holidays Tehidy, then this incredible road trip is on your doorstep. Join the A30 to begin your adventure (make sure you've got great driving tunes on, too!)

The Cheesewring & Hurlers Standing Stones

Legend has it that men were turned to stone as punishment for ‘hurling’ stones on the Sabbath. These standing stones are a breathtaking and mystifying site. A short walk across Bodin Moor will take you to the Cheesewring - weather erosion over the centuries, or the work of bored, mischievous giants? You decide. Build this into your trip when you're glamping near Looe at Wigwam Holidays Penbugle as it's less than ten miles away.

Kynance Cove and Asparagus Island

You’ll up your Instagram game massively at this almost-too-beautiful cove, with invigorating turquoise water, ideal for wild swimming. Grab a snack at the little cafe and enjoy a spot of wild asparagus foraging on Asparagus Island.
