Nestled in a beautiful wooded valley near Bodmin Moor, this is a holiday site that offers a selection of accommodation styles, plus a fully equipped, designated camping and caravan area – you choose which you prefer.

Our wigwams are located in their own area near the shower and toilet block – with solar hot water - washing up and laundry facilities.

We believe having space is a right, not a luxury, so you will find all the accommodation areas, including the camping pitches, are designed to create ‘a little world of your own’ amongst friends. After a busy day exploring you are safe in the knowledge that you will return to the peace & quiet, where you are able to relax and unwind!

We offer a holiday experience where you can get in touch with nature and the wildlife; a centrally based haven from where you can enjoy what Cornwall has to offer. It’s ideal for families (there is an unsupervised play area for the children), groups of friends and couples who wish to stay where there is no bar, no disco…and no bingo. However, we do have an on-site shop for basic groceries, locally sourced produce, ice-creams/confectionery, a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks plus camping gas and equipment.

We are a youngish(?) couple with two small boys and feel it is a very much a simple “get back to nature” site, with an abundance of plants and animal wildlife. Some 39 species of birds were spotted last year, not to mention the cheeky squirrels and numerous neighboring farm animals and the chickens and pigs we have for everyone to see and feed.

We have a 4 star English Tourism Board holiday park rating. We are also members of the David Bellamy conservation scheme and for the eighth year running we have been awarded with the highest accolade a “Gold Award”. As featured in the Sunday Times 12 best campsites in Britain 29th March 2009.

Things To Do

As Ruthern Valley Holidays is so centrally located in the heart of Cornwall, it offers a multitude of places to visit and experience, all of which are in reasonable driving distance.

The much acclaimed “Eden Project” is only a short drive from Ruthern Valley as are the “Lost Gardens of Heligan” and several National Trust properties.

Beaches. We are 10 miles from the north and south coasts and all their beach-based activities; whether for sunbathing, surfing and sandcastles or for more adventurous pursuits such as kite surfing and sea kayaking; many of the bays have schools for novices and those who wish to improve their techniques.

Cycling and walking. The Camel Trail, a 16 mile dedicated cycling and walking route following the old ‘Atlantic Coast Express’ railway line between Bodmin and Padstow. There are several points along the way to join it – one of which is 5 minutes bike ride from the site on a level route. The Camel Trail is part of the ‘Cornish Way’ a cycle route round Cornwall. For the keen walker, there are numerous hiking trails and, of course, the South West Coast Path which follows the Cornish coastline; the ‘Saints Way’ is a Pilgrims’ route incorporating many of the churches between Padstow and Fowey.
