This month saw Wigwam Holidays set up camp on the stunning Northumberland coast near Seahouses.

With a panoramic backdrop of Bamburgh Castle, the Farne Islands and the Cheviot Hills the Gregory family of Springhill Farm Accommodation welcomed five wigwams onto their 500-acre working organic farm. The family, which offers a full range of holiday accommodation, including a bijou bunkhouse, wanted to offer visitors a “glamping” – glamorous camping experience.
“We were immediately drawn to the wigwams because they reminded us of the upturned boats which serve as sheds on nearby Holy Island and the fishing village of Beadnell,” said Julie Gregory, who runs the accommodation side of the farm with daughter Sarah. Husband Colin and son Simon tend to the crops and livestock on this friendly, coastal farm.

“We love the look and feel of the wigwams, which are a really fun way to holiday but their design and layout means they are a cosy and comfy alternative to camping as well, which our guests already love.”
Sarah Gregory said: “We’re in the heart of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and have a silver award for Green Tourism. Our farm is organic and we try to be in keeping with the natural environment around us. The fact that the wigwams are made from sustainable, home-grown timber is an added bonus.Springhill Farm wigwams are just half a mile from the coastline with the Eden of the north, Alnwick Garden, only a 20 minute drive away with its famous Tree house restaurant.
The famous Farne Islands are only a boat trip away and are rated as one of the country’s top wildlife experiences. These stunning islands are home to the UK’s largest grey seal colony and also offer many prime diving and fishing sites.Around the farm itself is a private nature trail, perfect for exploring the beautiful Northumberland countryside around Springhill.

On the Sustrans Coast & Castles National Route 1 there are plenty of quiet country lanes with wonderful coast and country views. Team this with secure bike storage, laundry and drying facilities at Springhill Farm and there’s everything cyclists need for a comfortable and relaxing place to stay.
