Sandyhills Bay Leisure Park is perfectly located to explore the region.

Next to the park is the 18 hole Colvend Golf Course, and Barend Riding Centre is a few minutes walk away and offers a range of riding activities for all the family.

Not far away is the town of Dalbeattie with quaint little shops, hotels, takeaway's and a cafe, plus a play park to keep the children entertained.

Take a trip down to Kippford on the way and watch the boats, have lunch or walk over to Rockcliffe.

The food town of Castle Douglas is well worth a visit with specialist shops, cafe's, pubs and restaurant's or take a trip to the shopping centre of Dumfries which is within 30 minutes drive.

The children would love to visit nearby Mabie Farm Park where there are lots of activities, even an indoor playbarn for the less sunny days. Animals to feed and you could even have something to eat youself in the delightful little tea room. There are picinic areas and also a farm shop.

There are gardens to visit, museums, castles, craft shops, potteries just to name a few and at nearby New Abbey there is an interesting museum of costume and a magnificent Cistercian Abbey dating back to the late C13th early C14th.

For the more energetic there are many walks to be found, acres of coastline, hills, beaches forest and lochs. The National cycle route network traverses the area and for the expert rider there are 5 of the 7 stanes mountain bike courses in the area.
